Hennepin County was formed
in 1852. The county seat is
Minneapolis. The history of Hennepin County (and the Twin City
metro area) began at the Fort Snelling-Mendota-St. Paul hub where
the Minnesota River flows into the Mississippi. Today, this hub is
in Hennepin, Ramsey, and Dakota Counties. Please check these county
pages for more links related to Hennepin County history. Also see
the
Minnesota Local History page by Anne Mensch with links to
wonderful background articles about trends and topics which affected
the county as well as the state.
